Its been a long while since the last update, and with Chinese new year around the corner, time to just update what I'm currently up to.

Well, I'm currently in Medicine posting, for those non med fellas, Medicine, my course, is divided into 6 core subs in clinical years ( medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynae, paediatrics, community medicine, psychiatry) plus other subs like orthopaedics, ophthalmology, anaesthesiology will be in Melaka..

For clinical years, we have postings everyday, meaning I'll be in the hospital for the whole day.. In medicine postings, I'll be facing cases involving mostly respiratory and cardiac systems. Mostly patient with old age, chronic smokers and many other stuffs.

And recently encountered a number of cases not seen daily like

seizures, delerium due to alcohol withdrawal...

And a patient with left ventricular hypertrophy with heaving apex beat admitted in the ICU..

Anyway this medicine posting is going to end and I'm having tests on 21st, 24th, and 25th Jan before entering the last posting and a month away from fleeing this place. So basically, there's no cny mood at all and the only thing on my mind now is

What to see in Melbourne.

Seems like it’s been centuries since the last update.

As I mentioned, I would like to talk about things to do in Melbourne.

To get to Melbourne, simply wait when Air Asia is giving cheap tickets & obtain an electronic visa prior to the bookings. What you need to do next is to cramp into the lil’ small yet the most reasonably-priced seat for 8 hours from KL. On reaching, if you are on budget, take the airport bus to Southern Cross, buy a weekly unlimited pass & prepare to roam Melbourne.

1st, Tourist attractions

Federation Square, which is just opposite the Flinders street station, the oldest station. You can reach there from Southern Cross by train. You can enjoy the river tour or the fine art exhibitions there.

From Fed. Sq., take a walk along the Yarra river bank,

Cross the Queen Bridge, continue walking and you will reach

The Crown casino.

There is a lot of entertainment inside the Crown, you can enjoy the good food, simulators & also perhaps donate your money on the tables.

Eureka Tower is another landmark to visit. Its a 88 storey with an observation deck where you can have the whole Melbourne in your retina. I was advised to enjoy the night view of Melbourne rather than going in the noon.

In the lift. The lift took seconds for us to reach the top, I believe it took lesser time to drop.

For those with unlimited case in hand,

Collins street is the best place. But for those without,

DFO @ South Wharf will be a better one.

Besides that, there are another few places to visit.

Docklands harbour.

Swanston street

Central library which is just opposite Melbourne Central & RMIT University.

Melbourne city is nice, same goes to the outskirts of Melbourne.

The twelve apostles, where you observe the rocks or have a heli-ride over the rocks & the Great Ocean Road.

That’s not all of the tourist attractions but thats what I feel nice & truly enjoyed it.

Just finished my theory papers for block exam & the lecturers are starting class tomorrow.

Tomorrow! Tomorrow saturday la.. Don’t la lecturers. I know you guys got OOOMMMPPHH under the new dean. But we got no energy la.

Week before the block exam, I was invited by the Manipal Hemophilia Society as one of the volunteer photographer.(In case you guys don’t know what’s hemophilia, its a genetic defect in stopping the bleeding.)

The event that day was kite flying.

Joe is the 1st to fly a kite.

My biochemistry lecturer got hit by her own kite. HAHAHA..

Recently, my rich friend in Manipal bought a DSLR, 500d..

Under the contagious influence from me n Mun Xiew,

& now he left the DSLR in my room for 3 weeks.

Enough time for me to do an auction already..

Canon 500d, who wants? give me a quotation. haha…

anyway, after using 500d, found out that i will never regret buying Nikon D90.

Why? simply because D90 is more like a camera. 500d? a toy!

It’s been almost 2 months I am back in India.

And there were too many major events happening..

The week after we came back, we gotta prepare for the Batch 26 orientation.

Not long after another bigger event, but I was only a photographer.

The cultural event, UTSAV 2010.

The western dance competition, I was the photographer that took all of their photos.

Again the cosplay event where we had some nip slip & erected penis.

Then few weeks later, the chinese orientation.

When I knew I am going to study in this country famous for diarrhea & dirty environment,

fine, I thought only the roadside stalls or small restaurants will have cleanliness problem..

But now this made me shocked..

A big company also encountered the same problem..

A big company like ICICI Bank. You got no reason to sue me, as I am telling the fact!

Omg, shame on you.. We never encountered this in Malaysia!!

Instead for a law suit, put in more effort to clean your ATM room, not to mention the attitude of your staffs.

PETALING JAYA: There is now a new and affordable avenue for Malaysians to study medicine locally.

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman’s (Utar) new Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences will hold its first intake in May, at a cost of about RM50,000 a year, a fraction of what parents would have to pay for medical courses in other local private universities.

The Higher Education Ministry has just approved the faculty’s Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme and the faculty will accept an initial 50 students this year.

Housed at the varsity’s Sg Long campus in Selangor, the MBBS programme will cost RM50,000 per annum and around RM250,000 for the entire five-year course.

A memorandum of agreement was also signed with the Health Ministry Friday, formalising the placement of Utar medical and health sciences students at government hospitals.

With the MoA, Utar students will undergo their practicum, industrial training or clinical studies at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, Ampang Hospital, Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru and Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh.

Commending Utar for its initiative, Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said that his ministry was excited to accept Utar into its pool of collaborating universities.

There are currently 25 universities training doctors in Malaysia. Ten of them are public universities while private universities and university colleges make up the other 15.

“This is a historical event for Utar,” said Liow in a press conference after the MoA signing ceremony.

“Based on Utar’s track record in producing quality graduates and commitment in promoting lifelong learning, I have no doubt that the university will attain the same level of excellence in its new venture.”

Describing the MoA signing as a win-win partnership which ultimately benefited Malaysian citizens, Liow added that his ministry was committed to supporting Utar in training its medical students.

Established on Nov 16, last year, Utar’s faculty of medicine and health sciences also plans to offer three more degree programmes in Nursing, Physiotherapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The application process for Utar’s MBBS course is open until the end of March and selected applicants will be interviewed in early April.

这则传言指出，《新英格兰医学杂志》所刊登的一项德国研究显示，男性每天花10分钟看女性的胸部，跟花半小时健身，能达到同等效果。

这个研究小组花5年的时间对200名男性进行上述研究，发现爱花时间看女性胸部的男性，血压较低，较少心脏疾病，脉搏律也较慢。

Today wanna talk about ICICI bank..

This is ICICI bank.. took 2 months to activate my bank account.
Fortunately I brought more than I was told by Mdm. XXX...
I was like so damn insecure before this because out of money!!
Below that is the combo card, serves as the student card, atm card, debit card, library access & for those who got ntg to do to play with by keep gliding on the sensors.

So, account finally activated & that means we can spend..
so we accompanied eric to Udupi to get his phone.

Stop by a pharmacy, where the pharmacists use computer to prescribe medicine..
Malaysia i think also not that advanced..
Along the street, you can find like 8 or 9 drug shops.. too many pharmacy here.

After taking his phone.. we went...

Then we went to a music shop because Eric wanted to buy a keyboard.

In the music shop, I spotted an cheap mp3 player that I was planning to buy (rm100 like that)..
(thanks to the ~~fucking~~ humid weather of India, my iPod classic rosak terus .. ~~FUCK!!~~, I lost my only entertainment before class & the nearest service centre is in Bangalore.. so I will only service it in Malaysia)

so I tested the mp3, then due to insufficient cash, i used my ICICI debit card to swipe..
FYI, india still haven't introduce the chip type credit card.
So, we still use the word SWIPE!.
k, this is what happened,
i let the boss swipe my card, then he keyed in the amount..
suddenly, I don't know why, something wrong with the machine & no receipt produced..
BUT, ICICI sent me a message stated that the transaction was successful & my account was deducted with no receipt & signature slip produced.. WTF right??

so the boss didn't believe that the transaction was successful & we had some 'discussion'..
I called the ICICI service centre &
~~wtf!~~ typical Indian working method again, all those stupid lengthy process,
wasting of time (except our lecturers, they are damn responsible)...
& the worst is I cant get thru

FYI again, people working in India are exactly like our proudly Malaysian Government..

Finally there's something interesting other than the long going lectures & dissections everyday..

What we did today is the physiology practical.

Identification of blood group.

Last week, we did the red blood cells count..

well blood supply if of course not ours..

but today, lecturer said:

"it's better if medical students know their own blood group.." so......

Lecturer said "I know you guys were nervous, scared.. do some exercise over.."

so everyone start to press their finger for blood accumulation.

Let's start with the procedure..

wipe ur finger with alcohol ( i smell Absolut)

prick the ring finger...

i mean your own ring finger..

but then some too scared of pricking their own's, they pricked each other's..

First Blood is for Dota player, hence we wipe away that with cotton..

2nd blood is what we need..

dilute the blood with saline in the test tube..

why need dilution?? do your studies.. PBL session, conduct by me.

prepare the slides...

label them...

& do not camwhore like me..

anyway this was taken by eleen.. while waiting for the agglutination to take place..

it took about 10 minutes..

& within the 10 minutes..

everyone playing with the Ribena in test tube..
